Hackers got into the twitpic accounts of Britney Spears and posted on twitter that she was dead. Twitpic is a service that allows twitter users to share pictures on twitter, and is not a part of twitter.
Twitpic shut down part of its services on discovering the hacking. This hacking into Britney Spears and Ellen DeGeneres accounts is a result of a so called 'vulnerability' in twitpic's mobile posting system.
